Lead Road Design Engineer

Job Summary
The Lead Road Design Engineer will play a critical role in planning, designing, and supervising road and highway infrastructure projects. The position is responsible for ensuring that all engineering designs meet international standards, project specifications, and sustainability requirements. The role involves close coordination with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and government stakeholders to deliver high-quality and cost-effective infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Design & Planning

  • Lead the design and development of road and highway projects from concept to detailed engineering stage
  • Prepare geometric designs, alignments, cross-sections, and drainage systems
  • Develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BoQs)
  • Ensure compliance with national and international road design standards

2. Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams
  • Review and validate engineering designs, reports, and calculations
  • Ensure the integration of safety, environmental, and social considerations into project designs

  Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage)

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in road and highway design

Proven experience in infrastructure projects, preferably with international organizations or large-scale projects
