Job Summary
UN Women is seeking a qualified and experienced Programme Consultant to support the implementation of the African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI). The consultant will contribute to advancing gender equality and digital inclusion by empowering girls and young women through coding, technology education, innovation, and leadership development initiatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with regional partners, governments, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and youth-focused programs to coordinate activities, strengthen partnerships, monitor project progress, and ensure effective programme delivery across targeted countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of AGCCI programme activities.
- Coordinate partnerships with government institutions, donors, NGOs, educational organizations, and private-sector stakeholders.
- Prepare technical reports, programme updates, presentations, and donor documentation.
- Assist in organizing workshops, training sessions, innovation camps, and advocacy events related to girls’ digital empowerment.
- Monitor project performance indicators and contribute to evaluation activities.
- Support resource mobilization and partnership development initiatives.
- Promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, and digital inclusion strategies.
- Ensure programme activities align with UN Women policies and international development standards.
- Provide administrative and operational support for programme implementation.
- Facilitate communication among regional and international partners involved in AGCCI activities.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Human Rights, International Development, Education, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in programme coordination, gender equality, youth empowerment, or partnership management.
- Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or development programmes is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of gender issues, digital inclusion, and youth-focused development initiatives.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and virtual collaboration tools.
- Fluency in English and French is required.
