Save the Children is seeking a qualified and motivated SBC (Social and Behavior Change) Officer – Immunization to support and strengthen immunization programs in the Somali Region. The role focuses on increasing vaccine uptake through community engagement, behavior change communication strategies, and collaboration with local health authorities.
The SBC Officer will play a key role in designing and implementing evidence-based interventions, improving awareness, and addressing barriers to immunization in underserved communities. This position contributes directly to child survival, disease prevention, and improved public health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement Social and Behavior Change (SBC) strategies for immunization programs
- Lead community engagement activities to promote vaccine awareness and acceptance
- Collaborate with government health offices and partners to strengthen immunization services
- Develop communication materials and conduct training for health workers and community volunteers
- Monitor and evaluate SBC interventions and immunization performance indicators
- Support outreach campaigns and mobilization efforts to increase vaccination coverage
- Ensure alignment with national health policies and organizational guidelines
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Behavioral Science, Health Education, or related field
- Additional training in immunization, health promotion, or SBC is an advantage
- Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in immunization programs or SBC-related roles
- Strong experience in community mobilization and behavior change communication
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and training skills
- Fluency in English (knowledge of local language is an asset)
- Ability to work effectively in remote and humanitarian settings
