Job Summary
Medical Teams International is hiring a skilled and motivated SBCC Officer to support its nutrition and public health programs in Ethiopia. The position focuses on designing and implementing Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategies to improve community health outcomes and reduce malnutrition.
The SBCC Officer will lead community-based interventions, promote positive health behaviors, and strengthen awareness on nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention. This role is ideal for professionals with experience in NGO health projects, community mobilization, and health education programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement SBCC strategies and communication plans for nutrition and health programs.
- Lead community outreach, mobilization, and awareness campaigns.
- Promote maternal and child health, nutrition education, and hygiene practices
Facilitate training sessions for community health workers and volunteers. - Conduct behavior change communication activities using culturally appropriate methods.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on SBCC program performance and impact.
- Collaborate with local health offices, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Support integration of SBCC into malnutrition prevention and treatment programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Health Education, or related field
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in SBCC, health promotion, or community-based programs
- Experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations is an advantage
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication, facilitation, and training skills
- Proven experience in community engagement and mobilization
- Knowledge of nutrition, public health, and behavior change strategies
- Ability to design IEC/BCC materials and campaigns
- Strong report writing and monitoring & evaluation skills
- Ability to work in remote and field-based settings.
