The Nursing Activity Manager (Outreach) at Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising outreach nursing activities to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery in underserved communities. The role involves managing nursing teams, monitoring clinical practices, and ensuring adherence to MSF protocols and international standards. The manager supports training and capacity-building of staff, conducts regular field visits, and ensures efficient use of medical resources. They collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and respond to public health needs. Additionally, the position requires accurate reporting, data collection, and active participation in program evaluation to enhance service quality and community health impact.
Key Responsibilities and duties
- Plan, organize, and supervise outreach nursing activities in target communities.
- Manage and support nursing staff, including scheduling, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
- Ensure all clinical services follow MSF protocols and international healthcare standards.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor service quality and provide technical support.
- Coordinate with medical, logistics, and public health teams for integrated service delivery.
- Identify community health needs and contribute to program planning and improvement.
- Oversee proper use and management of medical supplies and equipment.
- Lead training sessions and capacity-building activities for nursing staff.
- Collect, analyze, and report health data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Ensure infection prevention and control measures are strictly followed.
- Support emergency response activities and outbreak interventions when required.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and prepare regular activity reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Nursing from a recognized institution (Master of Public Health – MPH is an advantage).
- Valid professional nursing license and registration.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant clinical and supervisory experience, preferably in outreach or community health programs.
- Experience working with NGOs or international humanitarian organizations is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
- Good knowledge of public health principles and emergency healthcare response.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in challenging and resource-limited settings.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an asset.
- Strong reporting, data management, and basic computer skills (MS Office).
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional nursing experience, preferably in clinical, community health, or outreach settings.
Proven experience in supervising and managing nursing teams, including staff mentoring and performance evaluation.
Hands-on experience in public health programs, maternal and child health, or infectious disease management. - Previous work experience with NGOs or humanitarian organizations is highly desirable.
- Experience in emergency or crisis response settings (e.g., outbreaks, conflict zones, or refugee programs) is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability in program planning, implementation, and monitoring of healthcare activities. - Experience in data collection, reporting, and use of health information systems.
Familiarity with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and clinical protocols. - Experience working in resource-limited or remote environments.
Strong background in training and capacity building of healthcare staff.
