Job Summary
International Medical Corps (IMC) is seeking qualified and dedicated Surge Medical Doctors to provide high-quality medical services in emergency and humanitarian settings. The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical care, managing emergency cases, supporting disease prevention activities, and contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare services in underserved communities.
The position requires strong clinical expertise, excellent decision-making skills, and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and medical ethics.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emergency, outpatient, and inpatient medical care to patients.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Assess, stabilize, and manage critically ill patients.
- Conduct medical consultations and prescribe appropriate treatments.
- Refer patients requiring specialized care to higher-level health facilities.
- Ensure accurate and timely medical documentation and reporting.
- Implement Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols.
- Participate in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and public health interventions.
- Supervise and mentor nurses, health officers, and other healthcare staff.
- Support health education and community awareness activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to professional medical standards.
- Participate in medical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
- Collaborate with humanitarian partners and local health authorities.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
- Valid professional medical license to practice in Ethiopia.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in emergency or humanitarian settings.
- Strong knowledge of emergency medicine and patient stabilization.
- Experience in outpatient and inpatient care services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in medical record keeping and reporting.
- Willingness to work in remote and challenging environments.
