A pharmacist working with Médecins Sans Frontières is responsible for managing medicines and ensuring safe, effective drug use in healthcare projects, especially in emergency and low-resource settings.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and consumption trends.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, hygiene, safety standards).
  • Implement and follow MSF medical protocols and guidelines.
  • Supervise and train pharmacy staff and storekeepers.
  • Coordinate with medical and logistics teams for drug needs.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and reporting systems.
  • Ensure rational use of medicines and prevent misuse or wastage.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and audits.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or equivalent).
  • Valid professional license/registration (required in country of practice).

  • Ability to work in a multicultural team
    Good organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Basic knowledge of public health and essential medicines.
