A pharmacist working with Médecins Sans Frontières is responsible for managing medicines and ensuring safe, effective drug use in healthcare projects, especially in emergency and low-resource settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure smooth workflow.
- Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of medicines and medical supplies.
- Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and consumption trends.
- Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, hygiene, safety standards).
- Implement and follow MSF medical protocols and guidelines.
- Supervise and train pharmacy staff and storekeepers.
- Coordinate with medical and logistics teams for drug needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reporting systems.
- Ensure rational use of medicines and prevent misuse or wastage.
- Conduct regular stock counts and audits.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or equivalent).
- Valid professional license/registration (required in country of practice).
Requirements
- Strong commitment to humanitarian principles and ethics.
- Ability to work in a multicultural team
Good organizational and time management skills. - High level of responsibility and attention to detail.
