Successful candidates will play a vital role in implementing UNICEF-supported programs aimed at improving public health outcomes. They will work closely with government health institutions, community stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective service delivery, accurate data reporting, and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately in line with prescriptions and standard treatment guidelines.
- Review prescriptions to ensure appropriateness, dosage accuracy, and potential drug interactions.
- Provide clear counseling to patients on medication usage, adherence, side effects, and precautions.
- Maintain proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, security) for all pharmaceutical products
- Manage medicine inventory including stock ordering, receiving, recording, and reporting
Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages, expiries, and wastage (apply FEFO/FIFO principles) - Ensure compliance with national pharmaceutical regulations and organizational policies.
- Participate in pharmacovigilance by documenting and reporting adverse drug reactions.
- Support implementation of health programs (immunization, nutrition, HIV, maternal health)
- Maintain accurate dispensing records and prepare periodic pharmacy reports
Train and supervise pharmacy assistants or support staff - Promote rational drug use and antimicrobial stewardship
Participate in audits, supervision visits, and quality improvement initiatives.
